Ballyhooly village is a few kilometres from Fermoy, a large and busy commercial town located on the banks of the River Blackwater. With 3 secondary schools, 5 primary schools, 4 large supermarkets, E-enterprise centre, a range of restaurants, award winning boutiques and pharmacies, sports clubs, personal trainers, a golf club and swimming pool, Fermoy has plenty to offer.

Ballyhooly has an incredibly active community and local committee. There is a huge interest in sport especially with an all weather tennis court, GAA clubs, the annual John Hartnett 10k road race, personal training and local stud farms to name but a few.

However, Ballyhooly is most well known for some of the best salmon and trout fishing in Europe in the River Blackwater. Nature lovers will be in their element also with Castleblagh Wood, a popular stop for hikers on the Avondhu way.
